Why Cooma?
Cooma was selected as it is generally considered the Land Rover came to prominence in Australia in the 1950's as being one of the major vehicles used during the construction of the Snowy Mountains Hydro Scheme. Cooma was the main construction base of the Scheme at that time.
Cooma was also chosen for this Event as it is located between the prominent major cities in eastern Australia, namely Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra. Cooma also has the facilities and services to support such an Anniversary Event these days.
Two similar events have previously been held in Cooma to celebrate earlier Land Rover Anniversaries -
the 40th Anniversary in 1988, and the 50th Anniversary in 1998.
The 1998 Event attracted over 700 Land Rovers and nearly 2000 enthusiasts from all over Australia, as well as Overseas. We envisage at least that number or more for the 60th Event.
All owners of any type of Land Rover product, whether it is new or old, renovated or not, modified or not, may participate, regardless whether you belong to a Club or not.
More details available in coming months.
The Event will be making donations to various Charities
